To ask the Minister for Health if he will meet with parents in Every Life Counts to discuss the comments he made prior to Christmas 2014 regarding the provision of abortion, where children have a profound disability, meaning they might not live for long after birth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy might be aware I recently received a request to meet with this group. I responded to the request by offering my sympathy and explaining that the Government will not be proposing any changes to the eighth amendment. For this reason, I did not believe that a meeting would serve any purpose and I declined their request.
