91. To ask the Minister for Social Protection if she will arrange an appeal and an oral hearing in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow in respect of a claim for carer's allowance based on that person's letter of 26 January 2015; and if she will expedite the matter. [5411/15]

I am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that, to date, no appeal in respect of disallowance of carer’s allowance has been received from the person concerned.
In order to make a valid appeal the person concerned should write to the Social Welfare Appeals Office outlining her up to date grounds of appeal i.e. the reason why she disagrees with the conclusions of the Deciding Officer. On receipt of same, an appeal will be opened.
The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
