Since 2006, under the Teaching Council Act 2001, the Teaching Council is the regulator of the teaching profession. One of the main ways in which it regulates the profession is by reviewing and, where appropriate, accrediting programmes of Initial Teacher Education. As this is an operational matter for the Teaching Council the course provider should contact the Teaching Council in the first instance.
