Medical Card Eligibility

96. To ask the Minister for Health if he will alter medical card guidelines in order that those under 26 years of age who are in receipt of less than €164 per week are ineligible for medical cards as they are deemed dependent on parents (details supplied). [4013/15]

It is the statutory function of the HSE to decide on entitlement to a medical card and the developed by the HSE is the basis upon which they assess eligibility.

The Health Service Executive has been asked to examine this matter and to reply to the Deputy as soon as possible.

If the Deputy has not received a reply from the HSE within 15 working days, please contact my Private Office who will follow up the matter with them.
