The approximate sum of €6.5m is being made available from the Department of Education and Skills for the purchase of desktop and notebook PCs to over 400 post primary schools for Design and Communications Graphics (DCG).

The Department of Education and Skills is procuring separately CAD software (currently anticipated that the relevant software will be Solidworks 2014 version).

Funding will be made available to the relevant schools in February 2015 in the form of a grant. The grant is based on the average number of pupils who sat DCG in the Leaving Certificate in each particular school over the last three years plus funding for an additional PC for the DCG Department. Schools will order the PCs directly from the hardware supplier(s). The Software and hardware provider will work together to install the software on the Notebooks/Desktops prior to shipment of same to schools.

A letter will issue to schools in the coming weeks detailing the process involved of which Colaiste Naomh Cormac will be included.
