The deputy may wish to note that my Department employs two special advisors, Mr. Ronán O'Brien and Ms. Anne Byrne.  In accordance with Instructions to Personnel OfficersMinisterial Appointments for the 31st Dail, dated 24 March 2011, Mr. O'Brien was appointed at a single point salary having regard to his previous earnings, while Ms. Byrne's salary has progressed on the basis of incremental payments and may continue to do so in accordance with the terms of the Haddington Road Agreement.

Given that my Department was only established in July 2011, it is not possible to provide a historical comparison for the years 2007-2010.
