I propose to take Questions Nos. 1065 and 1066 together.

Two General Schemes of Bills have been subject to pre-legislative scrutiny by the Oireachtas as set out in the Table below. It is expected that the Bills will be published in the coming weeks.

General SchemePurposeDate approved by Government
Official Languages (Amendment) BillTo amend the Official Languages Act 2003.1 April 2014
National Concert Hall BillTo give statutory status to the National Concert Hall, in line with the governance and accountability regime that applies to other national cultural institutions.15 April 2014


In addition, two General Schemes of Bills have also been submitted for pre-legislative scrutiny by the Oireachtas as set out in the Table below:
