I have set out below for the Deputy's information the legal costs incurred by my Department which also includes information relating to the Irish Prison Service and the Probation Service. You will be aware that much of the legal advice provided to my Department comes from Chief State Solicitor's Office (CSSO) and the Office of the Attorney General and, as such, does not incur a cost to my Department's budget. Detailed below is a yearly breakdown of total legal costs which include Tribunal and settlement costs, other party legal costs, costs incurred in obtaining legal services sought and paid for by Department together with other legal costs paid by the Department.
Year | Total (€) (m) |
---|---|
2011 | 14.5 |
2012 | 10.3 |
2013 | 9.1 |
2014 (to date) | 6.3 |
