Registration of vehicles is a matter for the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. I assume that the Question is referring to the motor taxation of private vehicles which is based on CO ₂for vehicles registered since July 2008, and on the basis of engine capacity for private vehicles registered prior to that date. There were 1,990,910 private vehicles either under current taxation or declared off the road on 30 November 2014. The breakdown by band is set out in the table.
