553. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the number of schools have been asked for 99 year leases by her Department; the purpose of this request; if all voluntary schools have been asked for such leases or just those that received capital funding from her Department in recent years; the oldest capital project where this has been requested; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Where significant grant aid is provided by the Department for the development of school premises on property not owned by the State, it is the policy of this Department that the investment is secured by way of a legal agreement.

Details in relation to these leases are generally held on individual property files. Therefore it is not possible to specify the number of such leases or the oldest one in existence.
