609. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the number of serious incidents reported by the Irish Aviation Authority in 2013 and to date in 2014; if he is satisfied that the current resources allocated to the IAA are sufficient; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The question raised by the Deputy is an operational matter for the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). I have forwarded your request to the IAA for direct reply.  If you do not receive a reply within the next 10 days please contact my private office directly.   The IAA  is a commercial semi state company; it does not receive any State funding.  It is a matter for the Board and management of the IAA on how best to allocate the resources it has available at any given time in order to perform its statutory functions.
