In June of this year the Office of Public Works (OPW) approved two applications submitted by Mayo County Council under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme. Approved funding was €30,600 for works at Ballisnahyny/Glasvally, Ballinrobe and €14,850 for a project at Frenchbrook, Kilmaine.

Details of the projects and works involved are available on the OPW website at under Flood Risk Management/Minor Works.

In addition, funding of up to €4,205,000 is being made available to Mayo County Council under the Government Decision of 11 February 2014 that allocated funding for repair of existing coastal protection and flood defence infrastructure damaged in the period 13 December 2013 to 6 January, 2014. Details of the projects and works involved and progress on same would be available from Mayo County Council.
