Exemptions from the statutory in-patient charge of €75 are listed in Statutory Instruments Nos. 116/1987 and 348/2003. Included among those exemptions are persons with full eligibility i.e. medical card holders, women receiving services in respect of motherhood and children up to the age of six weeks. No exemptions are provided in respect of in-patient charges for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 2001.
