The National Transport Authority (NTA) has responsibility for the regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013. I have met with several representatives of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry and a range of issues have been discussed. I have not met with the companies that are providing apps related to SPSV services. The specific issue of automated rest periods has not been raised with me.

The Road Safety Authority is actively promoting safety awareness among all drivers including in particular the importance of professional drivers being cognisant of the safety issues arising from fatigue and the need to take measures to avoid fatigue while driving.
