The rent-a-room scheme was introduced in the Finance Act 2001 as an incentive to encourage individuals to let rooms in their sole or main residence. Further information on the rent-a-room scheme is available from the Revenue Commissioners who provide a guidance note in the "Leaflets" section of their website, www.revenue.ie.
I have no proposals to promote the rent-a-room scheme as it does not fall within the remit of my Department.
