261. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the position regarding the tender for the Kerry-Dublin and Donegal-Dublin PSO flights; the level of interest that has been expressed on both routes; if he envisages that the Dublin connections to both airports will continue beyond the expiry of the current contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The current PSO contracts for regional air services between Donegal and Dublin and Kerry and Dublin were due to expire on 2 November 2014. These contracts are being extended until 31 January 2015, in order to put the 2015 - 2017 contract(s) in place by 1 February 2015. The Government launched a call for tenders, as published in EU Official Journal number C235 and 236 of 22 July 2014, for public service obligation air services on the two aforementioned routes.  The closing date for receipt of submissions is 22 September 2014. Decisions on whether or not to maintain one or both routes will depend on the outcome of that tender process and the funding available for the regional airports programme post 2014.
