During the period 01 July 2013 to 31 December 2013 one civil servant retired from my Department. To date in 2014, ten civil servants (8.8 Wholetime equivalents) have retired from my Department. Two staff members will reach age 65 in 2015 and four staff members will reach 65 in 2016 and will have to retire on age grounds in those years. One other staff member has also signalled his intention to retire in June 2015.

There is no mechanism to predict how many retirements there may be in 2015 as a result of the grace period for pension purposes under the Haddington Road Agreement or how many will retire in 2016.

As my Department is a non-delegated Department in respect of the administration of pensions, the superannuation entitlements of staff of my Department are determined, awarded and administered by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and this Department has no mechanism for calculating the expected savings from retirements.
