The information sought by the Deputy in respect of civil servants in my Department is as follows. An officer wishing to resume duty following a career break will be assigned to the next appropriate vacancy to be filled following the expiry of the career break, with a guarantee of re-employment in a relevant grade, not necessarily in his/her existing Department, within twelve months of expiry of the career break. In accordance with this requirement all officers were offered a position within twelve months of expiry of their career break. Five officers were offered redeployment of which four availed of the redeployment offer and one officer resigned their position. One officer was returned on a supernumerary basis having been on a redeployment list for over one year. The information in relation to public servants is an operational matter for the twelve State Bodies under the aegis of my Department.
