To ask the Minister for Health in the context of a significant change effected in October 2013 whereby a person who held a medical card could also be awarded a long-term illness scheme card, if he will ensure that such persons who were not notified of this change until February 2014 will be reimbursed any moneys they expended on qualifying drugs in the interim period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Health Service Executive (HSE) is responsible for the administration of the primary care schemes, therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
