629. To ask the Minister for Health if he will assist organisations (details supplied) in having valuable funding lost from the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government scheme to support national organisations replaced with funding from his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The administration of the scheme operated by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government is a matter for the Minister in that Department. There are no funds available to the Department of Health which would enable assistance to be provided to the organisations named. The Health Service Executive (HSE) supports a wide range of non-governmental organisations in respect of specific, agreed activities and it is open to the organisations to explore with the Executive whether there may be a basis for any further such agreements. I must note however that the HSE’s budget remains stretched and must be focused in the first place on the provision of front-line services.
