532. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Sligo County Council will carry out dredging at the channel to Sligo harbour; that an application from Sligo County Council for a licence under the Foreshore Act to undertake the dredging works at the harbour was submitted to his Department on 28 February 2013; when his Department will make a decision to grant the licence; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Sligo County Council cannot proceed to seek grant aid for the dredging until such time as the foreshore licence is granted by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The application by Sligo County Council to carry out dredging at Sligo Harbour was granted approval in principle on 20 May 2014. The Chief State Solicitor’s Office has been instructed to prepare the requisite legal documentation.

A delay in the decision arose due to a late response from one of the statutory consultees during the environmental assessment of the application.
