829. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if the advisory committee of the National Transport Authority has come to a decision regarding the establishment of a new category of SPSV licence for situations where non-standard taxi, hackney and limousine services are to be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 830. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on adopting a similar approach to that taken in London regarding the possible establishment of a new category of SPSV licence for situations where non-standard taxi, hackney and limousine services are to be provided, whereby both taxi and private hire regulations exist, which govern both taxi and non-taxi vehicles operating in a public service capacity; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 829 and 830 together.

The regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act, 2013. I have referred your questions to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within 10 working days.
