To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the number of retired civil and public servants that have been rehired on temporary contracts or as consultants under his remit; if he will provide a breakdown of those figures in tabular form, providing associated costs of such rehiring; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since its establishment in June 2011, my Department has rehired a small number of its retired civil servants (2) on temporary contracts or as consultants, as set out in the table below:

For the sake of completeness as I have previously advised the House, one of my Special Advisers, Mr. James Kenny is a retired schoolteacher. Mr Kenny's salary, following abatement, is €42,941 per annum. I am also advised that bodies under the aegis of my Department have rehired a small number (5) of their public servants on temporary contracts or as consultants, as set out in the table below:
