207. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills in the case of a primary school which in 2013 increased its number of teachers to three, two mainstream and one base school resource, if the deputy principal will in the event of the school losing the resource post retain the deputy principal allowance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A permanent teacher, who holds a post of responsibility allowance, retains the allowance on a personal basis even if the post is subsequently not warranted by reference to the schedule of posts. However, the post holder must continue to perform duties while he/she continues to teach in the school. There will be no changes to the location of resource base posts for the 2014/15 school year. However, it is open to the management of a school with a base post to opt out of being a base school, particularly if the NCSE resource hour allocation for that school is low.
