412. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if there are any threats as per the Animal Welfare Bill to the welfare of dog breeds listed under the Control of Dogs Act Regulations 1998; and if he will provide clarity on which pounds do and do not rehome or release the breeds listed in the aforementioned legislation. I am not aware of any risks to the specific breeds referred to arising from the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013. The Control of Dogs Regulations, 1998, which were made under the Control of Dogs Act 1986, and the Control of Dogs (Amendment Act) 1992 fall outside the remit of my Department. Accordingly, this is a matter for my colleague, the Minister of Environment, Community and Local Government.

The legislation in respect of pounds comes under the responsibility of the Department of Justice and Equality and is a matter for that Department.
