To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government if he will provide, in tabular form, a breakdown of the funding provided for the construction of social housing units on a county basis; and the number of social housing units completed in each county each year since 2008. My Department publishes a wide range of housing statistics, including data on the number of social housing units constructed broken down by area and year. The statistics concerned are available on my Department’s website at:by clicking “L.A. Housing Output and Commenced (1994+)” under the Social Housing Supports contents.

The following table outlines the amount of capital funding provided to local authorities under the social housing construction and acquisitions programme over the six-year period 2008 -2013. In addition to construction projects, local authorities would have acquired properties by way of turnkey projects, properties delivered under Part V agreements and the purchase of completed units. It is not possible to disaggregate the data to indicate the amounts spent solely on construction.
