380. To ask the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry has to pay the maximum €25 per month prescription charge when the person has a long-term illness; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20100/14]

Medical card holders are required to pay a €2.50 charge (per item) for medicines and other prescription items supplied to them by community pharmacists, subject to a cap of €25 per month for each person or family. Charges are not payable in respect of items supplied under the Long Term Illness Scheme. The HSE is responsible for the administration of the primary care schemes, therefore, the HSE has been asked to investigate the details of this case and reply to the Deputy as soon as possible.
