The most recent published figures for unaccounted for water for each of the local authority administrative areas are set out in the report Service Indicators in Local Authorities 2012, which was published by the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) on 24 March 2014. Figures for unaccounted for water were first included in the report Service Indicators in Local Authorities 2008and this has continued in reports for the years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Copies of these reports are avai lable in the Oireachtas Library and are also available on the LGMA's website at the following link:

Since 1 January 2014, Irish Water has statutory responsibility for all aspects of water services planning, delivery and operation at national, regional and local levels. This includes dealing with unaccounted for water in the public water supply.

Irish Water has confirmed to my Department that it has established a dedicated team to deal with representations and queries from public representatives. The team can be contacted via an email to or by telephone on 1890 278 278.
