To ask the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Health Service Executive west is reducing the level and frequency of day centre services in County Leitrim and withdrawing the service entirely in at least one rural location; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 661. To ask the Minister for Health if there is a charge payable to the Health Service Executive by the parents of young children who require glasses; if the same arrangement is in place in all regions throughout the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17952/14]

All children of primary school age are provided with an optical screening service by the HSE. Any refractive errors are treated and spectacles or other appropriate care is provided where necessary. The HSE has been asked to examine the specific query raised by the Deputy and to reply to him as soon as possible.
