I wish to confirm for the Deputy that architectural planning has commenced for the provision of a new 1,000 pupil post primary school in the area in question. The project was included in the Department's 5 Year Construction Programme announced in March 2012 and is expected to progress to construction in 2015/2016.
The Patronage of the school has been awarded to Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education Training Board.

In June 2011, I announced that some 20 new post primary schools are to be established up to 2017 to cater for increasing demographics across a number of locations. That announcement did not include a proposal to establish a new school in Knocklyon, Dublin 16. My Department is currently analysing the demographics for all areas, including those for the Dublin 16 area, to determine where any further new schools may be needed into the future.
