The most recently available statistics relate to the 2012/2013 academic year. These show that there were 526,422 pupils in DES aided primary level schools and 362,847 pupils in DES aided post-primary schools. Further breakdowns are available in the Department's Annual Statistical Report available on the website at .

Statistics in relation to teacher numbers and pupil enrolment are published annually by my Department on its website. The most recent published statistics relate to the 2012/2013 school year. Statistics for the 2013/14 school year are due to be published before the end of August.
