751. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will report on whether the transfer of all inmates aged under 21 years from St. Patrick’s Institution to Wheatfield Prison has been completed; and the current number of inmates under 21 years of age in Wheatfield Prison with a breakdown based on the ages of all of the inmates in this cohort. I wish to advise the Deputy that all prisoners aged between 18 and 21, sentenced to detention have been transferred from St Patrick's Institution to Wheatfield Place of Detention. On 24 March 2014, four 17 year olds remain in St Patrick's. These are remand prisoners who, for legal reasons, must remain there pending the completion of building works at Oberstown, County Dublin.

Prisoners aged under 21 years old currently in Wheatfield Place of Detention on 24 March 2014 are set out in table below.
