642. To ask the Minister for Health his plans to introduce a postgraduate course for persons who have qualified in psychiatric nursing to further study in general nursing; if so, when this course will be available; the centres in which this course will be available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has not received a proposal to provide a postgraduate course to facilitate psychiatric nurses transferring to general nursing. However, should such a proposal be made, my Chief Nursing Officer would be happy to examine it in the context of the range of nurse training programmes which are provided.
