532. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will provide an update on the development and outcome of the review process of the role of the joint policing committees in the context of the programme for Government commitment to build on existing community policing partnerships; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, in the context of a commitment in the Programme for Government I initiated a review of the operation of Joint Policing Committees and published a discussion document to support public consultation on the matter. My Department, together with the Garda authorities and the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government has examined the feedback obtained during the review process, as well as related issues arising from the broader process of local government reform, and recommendations concerning revisions to the JPC guidelines are at an advanced stage of preparation.
