To ask the Minister for Defence if any of his departmental or ministerial offices have been swept for electronic or any other type of surveillance or bugging equipment since coming to office in March 2011; the reasons for this check; the results of this check; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has robust security measures in place throughout its various buildings which include restricted swipe-controlled access across branches and offices. In this context, my Department and the Defence Forces attach high importance to all security matters. The detailed security arrangements undertaken in this context are matters that are pursued as considered necessary by my Department and the Defence Forces and it is not considered appropriate to make these public.
