621. To ask the Minister for Health when his Department is expected to complete the audit of hospitals on the way in which perinatal mortality statistics are being provided to the national perinatal epidemiology centre; if the findings of the audit will be published; the total number of officials responsible for conducting this audit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, my Chief Medical Officer is undertaking a report of maternity cases highlighted recently in Portlaoise Hospital. The scope of the report is currently being finalised and it would not be appropriate to comment on the final remit of the report at present. The findings of the CMO's report will inform any subsequent work to be done by HIQA or others including any wider review.
