94. To ask the Minister for Social Protection the employment supports that are available to adults who may not have been diagnosed previously as being on the autistic spectrum and who may not be able to get such a diagnosis, but who are able and willing to work. [4703/14]

My Department provides a range of income and employment supports for people with disabilities, including those with autism.

In regard to employment supports for people with disabilities, the Department’s supported employment programme, which operates nationwide under the “EmployAbility” banner, provides the services of a jobcoach for those wishing to avail of employment opportunities. Other relevant supports include the wage subsidy scheme.

However, where a person is not in receipt of an illness-related payment from the Department, but is available to work, it is open to that person to avail of the range of services my Department provides for jobseekers.
