To ask the Minister for Health further to Parliamentary Question No. 761 of 15 January 2014, the reason the 2014 Health Service Executive service plan does not contain projections for the number of medical cards to be issued on a discretionary basis in 2014 in view of the fact the service plans for 2013 and 2012 did so and both of these plans specifically categorised them as discretionary medical cards; the number of such cards that are anticipated in 2014; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
