770. To ask the Minister for Health the specific role his Department is playing in the event that the Health Service Executive budget for pension lump sums is not sufficient to pay the numbers of staff retiring; if he will confirm if there are other roles that his Department is playing alongside the Department of Health and Department of Taoiseach concerning the €63 million against the elimination of the €113 million probity detailed in the HSE service plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Taking into account that there have been two incentivised exit schemes available to HSE staff over the last couple of years, it is difficult to determine the number of staff who will retire this year. My Department will of course continue to work closely with the HSE and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform to ensure the availability of adequate funding to cover any requisite lump sum payments.
