609. To ask the Minister for Defence the reason the Christmas crib was allegedly removed from the Defence Forces Headquarters in Newbridge County Kildare; the person who gave the order for the removal of the crib; the reason or thinking behind same; if this is going to be a trend in the Defence Forces in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed that the Department of Defence has not placed a crib in its public areas since 2009. Also, that this is in line with the practice in many other Government Departments. The Department manages its public areas in accordance with best practice across a range of requirements, such as health and safety, disability access and equality.
