581. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the strength of the Kerry Garda division at the end of December 2013 regarding full Garda numbers, Garda reserve numbers and civilians; if he will also provide in tabular form the numbers in these categories for the years 2010 to 2012, inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution of personnel among the Garda Regions, Divisions, and Districts, the various Garda national units and of course Garda Headquarters. Garda management keep this distribution under continuing review in the context of crime trends and policing priorities so as to ensure that the best possible use is made of these resources. I have however been informed by the Garda Commissioner that the personnel strengths of full time Gardaí, Garda Reservists and civilians assigned to the Kerry Garda Division on 31 December 2010 to 2012 and on 30 November 2013, the latest date for which figures are readily available, are set out in the following table.
Kerry Division | Garda | Reserves | Civilians |
---|---|---|---|
2010 | 334 | 10 | 32 |
2011 | 314 | 22 | 32 |
2012 | 298 | 26 | 32 |
2013 | 297 | 35 | 32 |
