Under the relevant legislation, the 2004 Health Act (as amended), the Minister for Health has a period of 21 days to consider the Health Service Executive's National Service Plan after its adoption and submission by the HSE Directorate. That time period extends to Monday of next week, the 16th December. The legislation also provides that, once the Service Plan is approved, it is also a matter for me, as Minister for Health, to ensure that the approved Plan is laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas. The HSE is responsible for publication of the Plan as soon as practicable thereafter.
