514. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality further to Parliamentary Question No. 727 of 5 November 2013, in relation to his statement that US military aircraft passing through Shannon have sovereign immunity, the other States that have been granted such immunity; the reason the Gardaí think that they have a role in relation to these aircraft. I am advised that the sovereign immunity accorded to certain aircraft arises under international law and accordingly the matter of granting this to specific States, as set out in the question, does not arise. The Gardai do of course have powers in relation to aircraft which are not subject to immunity.
