325. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality his views on the recent announcement of the New Zealand Minister for Justice to introduce a Cyber Bullying Bill which contains provision to create a new offence of incitement to commit suicide; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the recent announcement by the Minister for Justice in New Zealand. Insofar as the law in Ireland is concerned, it is already an offence under section 2 of the Criminal Law (Suicide) Act 1993 to aid, abet, counsel or procure the suicide or attempted suicide of another person.
