The 2014 expenditure provision for Vote 36 (Defence) shows a reduction of some €3.8m for the year, compared with the corresponding provision for 2013.

The 2014 provision for Vote 35 (Army Pensions) shows an increase of some €6.2m for the year over the 2013 provision. (Expenditure on Army Pensions is non discretionary and the additional provision is required due to the increasing number of Army Pensioners in recent years).
