122. To ask the Minister for Social Protection if she will confirm that a formal appeal has been received in connection with an entitlement to widower's pension and an alleged overpayment in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Social Welfare Appeals Office has advised me that there is no record of any appeal by the person concerned having been received by that office.

The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
