The European Commission has initiated five infringement proceedings on compliance aspects or incomplete transposition of EU Directives that fall within the remit of my Department.

Officials from my Department are continuing to liaise with the European Commission on these cases with a view to addressing the issues raised by the Commission. There is no case where the European Court of Justice fines are currently being paid.

Additionally, my Department has one directive () on technical aspects of directives on free movement of goods that need to be adapted following the accession of Croatia on 1 July 2013. This is under review in the Department at the moment.
