501. To ask the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation if he will provide an update on the consumer protection and competition Bill; if he will clarify if the legal drafting has been finalised; when he expects to be in a position to publish the Bill; when he expects to commence Second Stage of the Bill; if he will clarify the Oireachtas committee to which the Bill will be referred on Committee Stage in Dáil Éireann; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Work on the drafting of the Consumer Protection and Competition Bill is progressing and is at an advanced stage. I hope to publish the Bill in October. Subject to Oireachtas time being available, I would expect Second Stage to be taken in Q4 2013. As with all legislation from my Department, the Bill will be referred to the Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Committee at Dáil Committee Stage.
