The HSE's National Clinical Care Programmes provide a national, strategic and co-ordinated approach to a wide range of clinical services. The programmes have three main objectives – to improve the quality of care, to improve access and to improve cost/value, effectiveness. The Clinical Care Stroke Programme aims to save save 1 death or disability per day, reduce Average Length of Stay by 2 days over 3 years and reduce admission of stroke patients to nursing homes by 1.5% nationally. In relation to the detail of the Deputy's question, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond directly to him.
