To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of hit and run collisions in which there were fatalities which occurred in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 here; the number of persons seriously injured in hit and run collisions during this period; and the number of hit and run collisions in which there was significant damage to vehicles recorded during this period. I am informed by the Garda authorities that road collision statistics are not recorded in a manner which would enable the specific statistics sought by the Deputy to be compiled without requiring a disproportionate expenditure of Garda time and resources.
